Dr. Peter Georg Picht
is an IP and competition law professor at Zurich University and a fellow with the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. He is also of counsel with the law firm
Schellenberg Wittmer
and has been working in patent law research and practice for more than 15 years, with a particular focus on SEPs (standard-essential patents) and FRAND (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory).
He is a regular expert in court and arbitration cases, as well as a regular advisor to policy makers, such as the European Commission, the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), and the German and Swiss governments. Some examples of his work in this area are when he advised the EU Commission on the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the SEP Regulation, and the IP licensing Block Exemption Regulation (also known as the Technology Transfer Block Exemption Regulation).
